GODS OWN THIS COUNTRY

I was kicked into orbit of Adhyatmikta by reading Swami Vivekananda and then remain chained there by Sri Sathya Sai Baba.

During my early readings of Swami Vivekananda, I came across an explosive statement , I am trying to rephrase it here " God was but born once outside of India, alas he was crucified ". Of course to secular mindsets it is not a very sophisticated statement, but for sadhaks who understand Shakti which was embodied by this spiritual giant, understand this well. For someone young whose blood was coursing through the veins with gush of spiritual aspiration, this statement was an erupting volcano.

On Aug 13, 2001 (17 yrs ago) group of 11 youngsters ( from Hyderabad) had interview with Baba which lasted for over an hour and half, where in he  guided us on many facets of Seva, and attitude with which it needs to be done. Attitude towards money, towards one's own culture interspersed with some superb trade mark humor. At the end of the interview he prompted us to ask questions and patiently answered each one of us. I then rose my hand and on my knees, as though possessed by words of Swami Vivekananda I framed my question to Baba with my mind on countless mahatmas who have descended on this sacred land, Bharath.

" Swami, what punyam ( blessed virtue) this land has accrued that YOU ( for me he was/is/will be a Mahatma/mahasiddha) descended here ...( I added with force )...again and again and again"

I am not sure how others around me felt.. they thought I was a crack pot, hyper on spiritual/patriotic dope ! I was 20yrs.

Baba looked at me intently and responded " not just now, even in time to come ( and added with force)....again and again and again I will come back only to this land. This is punyabhumi, karmabhumi. This land sustains its life force not because of great political leaders or ideologies. It sustains, nourishes and is protected by the spiritual yearning ( Aarthi) of great many sadhaks, Yogi's , seen and unseen. This verily is the life force of this land."

There is a level at which you can connect with this land, where in, its darshan can be had as  Shakti, as Mystic.

As to Baba, I haven't come across a Siddhapurusha with such indomitable grip on the domain he presides and yet so compassionate.
